I have never been keen on bluetooth headsets that have to be worn all the time in the car for the times you get calls or make calls.
So I was very interested in the Surfacesound compact Bluetooth Car kit as it seemed to provide easy access to bluetooth communication in car whilst avoiding having to wear a headset all the time.
I am absolutely delighted with this product as I easily connected it to my mobile within about 1 minute of taking it out of the box. It clips quickly onto the sun visor and you switch it on by pulling the microphone arm towards you a little.
Within a couple of seconds it has connected to my phone's bluetooth and is ready to use. There are only 2 buttons on the surfacesound - volume and accept/end call. The unit is only a few millimetres deep and is barely noticeable when driving. The speaker is excellent and very clear. Callers have told me that they can hear me clearly too, I don't seem to have to repeat myself to them.
When you are finished using it you simply push the microphone arm back level with the rest of the unit and it switches off and disconnects from the mobile's bluetooth.
The unit is so slim it is almost invisible from outside the car but if you want to store it in between journeys it quickly slides off the sun visor and stows away.
The unit comes with an in car charging unit and also a usb charging cord. I believe that it can hold charge for about 15 days.
The only drawback would be if you didn't want your calls to be effectively on speaker phone for privacy, but an earpiece is included for these times.
So I would say if you don't want to fiddle about with the earpiece bluetooth kits, this kit may be just right for you.

Firstly let me say that the service and price both made me happy. It was easy to get it up and running and to pair it with my mobile. So far so good.
I headed out to the car and rang my home answerphone. The message from me to me came over loud and clear and I could not be happier. But then I spoke a few sentences to my answerphone and headed inside to check it out. Problem. I have now experimented with many different positions for the microphone. Some positions are obviously better than others. But even in the best position my voice comes over as quiet and a bit tinny. And that is without the engine running.
I am going to keep trying to see what I can do about this. But it is unsatisfactory and I might well end up buying a replacement product.
